Senior QC Chemist / Team Lead

How will you make an impact?

The Senior QC Chemist / Team Lead reports to the Quality Head and will oversee the method development for new products, verification, qualification, and daily testing of samples in support of analytical testing operations for the QC lab. The Senior QC Chemist / Team Lead works in close collaboration with Operations, Clients, and (senior) scientists from the management team (QC and QA).

What will you do?

  • This position ensures that all testing processes and departmental documentation meet cGMP regulatory standards
  • This position is expected to be one of the QC Leads for the state-of-the-art QC lab. As a leader for this department, this individual will exhibit leadership traits and characteristics and be perceived by not only his/her group as a leader, but also by the site when Quality Control issues arise around the site. This will be accomplished by ensuring the following responsibilities are met, and by ensuring a strong quality culture is maintained throughout the QC portions of the facility in cooperation with the aims and direction of the Site Quality Head
  • Oversees, manages, and ensures the successful day-to-day operations of the Quality Control department for the company
  • Senior QC Chemist / Team Lead ensures the success of the teams by direct management of the individual contributors within the QC department
  • Actively take the lead in ensuring GMP compliance for the company. Set strategy in investigations and CAPAs, as necessary
  • Participate and/or lead meetings, to provide input on timelines, potential compliance issues and other related QC activities
  • Provide overall departmental feedback to Quality Head

How will you get here?

  • BSc with 7-9 years of relevant experience
  • MSc in Biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or related field plus 6-8 years of relevant experience
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or related field plus 4-5 years of relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Control of pharmaceuticals (experience in a GMP environment preferred)
  • 2+ years prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficiency with business software (e.g., MS Office) and technical software (e.g., Quality Management System (QMS) software such ChemStation), including software programs generating reports and statistics
  • Ability to create, use and interpret scientific tables, charts, and graphs
  • Extensive knowledge of general and specific QC analytical testing principles which support analytical testing of NHP and DIN products
  • Knowledge of testing and associated equipment protocols and requirements and analytical instrumentation
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; written and oral
  • Solid understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Canada regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceuticals. Applies GMP regulations and other international guidelines to all aspects of the position
  • Ability to work with the goals and objectives of the Quality Head and translate them into actionable work for staff to meet those goals and objectives
  • Ability to create and maintain highly functioning teams, cohesive, striving for common and individual goals, in a positive atmosphere for all employees. Able to coach and mentor more junior employees to success
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and make appropriate alterations to documents such as batch records, quality agreements, SOPs, etc
  • Ability to manage performance of people

QA Associate

How will you make an impact?

The QA Associate reports to the QA Manager who shows a high degree of initiative and is a team player with excellent communication abilities. The QA Associate must be comfortable in a pharmaceutical environment with great attention to detail, comprehensive understanding of GMP, GLP guidelines and strong organizational skills which will drive projects to completion.

What will you do?

  • Manage GMP documentation, change controls and OOS
  • CAPA Management - manages/tracks site CAPA program and ensures all departments are meeting obligations for CAPA based on deviation, complaints, audits and change controls
  • SOP Management - oversees site GMP related SOP's and ensures that they are meeting current corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Complaints - provides QA support for complaint investigation
  • Audits and tracks the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program
  • Maintenance of quality agreements with suppliers, customers and contractors
  • Participate in client audits and regulatory inspections (Health Canada, FDA, ISO)
  • Responsible for monitoring and timely requisition of laboratory supplies
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned
  • Manage calibration and maintenance of data loggers and all laboratory equipment/instruments

How will you get here?

  • University/College Degree in Science
  • 3-5 years Quality Assurance experience in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Technical writing in the pharmaceutical industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing equipment such as HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, UV, IR, Titrators etc would be an asset
  • Advanced word processing skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Deadline oriented with a flexibility to work in a multitasking environment

Receptionist / Administrative Assistant

How will you make an impact?

The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant works closely with QC and QA to monitor all inbound and outbound communications between vendors and customers. This role requires a strong understanding of the process flow within an analytical laboratory.

What will you do?

  • Ensures coverage of telephone and reception area; answers and directs incoming calls, greets visitors, and directs to appropriate department staff
  • Liaising with all levels of management to proactively deal with changing priorities and inquiries
  • Independently handle general office administration tasks such as organizing meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments, and maintaining files
  • Establishing and performing routine office functions independently such as typing, photocopying, faxing, correspondence filing, ordering, and maintaining department stationery supplies
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date administrative procedures
  • Tracking Accounts Receivables and Payables
  • Other related ad-hoc duties as required

How will you get here?

  • Post-secondary education, either University Degree or a Diploma
  • Excellent written and verbal English proficiency
